We thank the Lord for camps that were held in 2021! More than 350 people were at camp during 2021, a true miracle considering still navigating the pandemic. Lives were changed as children and teens made decisions to follow Christ, to grow in their faith, or to take a step to serve and minister to others. We are grateful for the Lord's provision and work at Camp Mrcajevci!
After several busy years as well as a year of pandemic, I'm finally returning to update this site! God continues to work through Camp Mrcajevci! In 2018 and 2019, we saw many children and teens come to camp, have a great time, come to know the Lord for the first time, or grow in their faith. Both property and programs continue to develop. It's exciting to see young adults return to camp to serve in leadership positions after growing up attending camps. What a joy!
Only three camps were held last summer because of the pandemic, but we are hopeful for 8 camps to be held, the first starting in May. Please pray for wisdom for the camp leadership, for parents, and for the government during this uncertain time. We do pray that we will be able to hold all of the camps in a safe way. Summer camps of 2017 have all ended! What a great summer it was! Children's camp, two Music camps, Slovak camp, Hungarian camp, Teen camp, Sports camp, and an American Football training camp were all held this summer. Most camps were filled to capacity (maybe some a little over!). What joy it was to see campers laughing, listening to God's Word, praying, discussing in small groups, playing games, doing group activities, going through the new ropes course, playing on the playground, singing and having a great time. More than 320 campers were at camp this year along with over 100 staff (full-time workers and volunteers). Thank you for your prayers and support for Camp Mrcajevci!
Time flies when you're having fun! This summer was certainly fun, and it certainly flew by! Nine weeks of camp, more than 300 campers, Bible stories, prayer, small group discussions, praise songs, skits, games, activities, and more! What a blessing to see children and teens hearing God's Word and growing in their faith. What a joy to see several accept the gift of salvation for the first time! The mission of camp was played out week by week as children and teens heard the Good News of Jesus Christ, were fed God's Word to help them grow in their walk with the Lord, and were challenged to live out their faith and to make disciples wherever they go. Thank you so much for your prayers and support! Below are lots of pictures from camps this summer! Enjoy! Camp will be hosting a baseball training camp in June, so we needed to build a backstop! So, Karl went in search of materials. Unfortunately, we don't have a Home Depot or Lowe's, and materials are a little harder to come by. We finally found some treated wood posts that would hold up in the weather! Yipee! So Karl bought a bunch and got to work. Be sure to also look at the video below the pictures of a time lapse of us putting up one of the posts! Not easy when it's just the two of us with only one tall ladder! And the posts are over 12 feet long and weigh 75-100 lbs each! Whew! Since the stairs inside the house were torn out to make room for the kitchen expansion, Karl built some stairs outside! The kitchen renovation is almost complete, just in time for summer camps! This new layout is so much more user-friendly and spacious. The main kitchen has a great view and lots of space for prep. The oven, stove (with another oven), griddle and fryer all have a place! We're working on getting the venthood made (if you would like to help with that project, please let us know!) that will go the entire length of the wall.
The middle room is for dishes and serving. This will be so useful for the helpers who set the tables. There is one room that is for food storage, including the refrigerators and (we hope!) a freezer! If you would like to help us get that freezer, please contact us! There is also the dishpit, where all of the dishes are washed! This room got a much-needed overhaul that gives more room for the workers. The dishwasher also just had a "tune-up" so it's ready to go! Since the upstairs was remodeled, we needed to find a place for the dining area. In the past, we used both the downstairs and upstairs terraces for dining. So Karl has to figure out a way to have a covered area (in case of rain!) for dining. We were able to get an awning put up (that we had previously purchased) and pavers put down for a mud-free floor. This will be great as we wait for the funds to come in for the big construction project of the new dining area! We're excited about this summer's camps!
